Thamini Uhai trains non-physician clinicians and nurse-midwives, so that the full spectrum of supported facilities (hospitals, health centers and dispensaries) can provide EmONC closer to the community. Assistant medical officers, nurse-midwives and clinical officers’ work as a team to manage emergency obstetric cases, with interventions including blood transfusion, anesthesia, cesarean section, assisted vaginal delivery, and neonatal resuscitation as needed.
The program’s senior clinical specialists have created an environment of close interaction through regular in-person visits and team-based learning around real clinical scenarios in the facilities.
